Longines (est. 1832) is a Swiss watchmaking establishment founded by Auguste Agassiz and has been based in Saint-Imier in Switzerland since 1832.  Its watchmaking expertise focuses on tradition, elegance, and performance, and the company has had many years of experience as a timekeeper for world championships in sports. It is a member of Swatch Group Ltd.  and known for its winged hourglass logo, patented in 1889. In 1911, its factory employed over 1,100 workers and sold its products all over the world. The company was awarded various prizes for its technical research and by the 1929 exhibition in Barcelona, the company won 10 Grand Prix.
