John Chamberlain (1927 - 2011) was an American sculptor best known for his abstract, readymade metal works. By the mid 1950s, Chamberlain began concentrating exclusively on sourcing and welding scrap metal from old automobiles. Later, in the ‘60s, he began experimenting with other media such as foams and foils. The prolific artist’s work is often described as unique, ambitious and masterful. Much of his work is represented internationally across prominent public collections.
