Johann Loetz Witwe Glass Company

Loetz Witwe is the name of the German glass company begun by Johann Eisner in 1836 in the Southern Bohemian town of Klosterm├╝hle, today part of the Czech Republic, and later renamed and run by Suzanne Loetz, the widow of a little-known German glassmaker named Johann Loetz. She ran the company for many years, manufacturing crystal, overlay, and painted glass. After she transferred the company to her grandson, the Johann Loetz Witwe Glass Company continued to develop new, patented techniques and processes for creating glass. One of the most well-known is the Papillon style, which is known for its magnificent color palette with rich iridescent shades of glass.
