Jacques Deperthes

Jacques Deperthes (b. 1936) is a French artist known for his realist landscape paintings with buildings. Born in Suresnes, France, he studied at the Installation Art School of Geneva between 1954 to 1958.  He held his first solo exhibition in 1961 in Geneva and often exhibited in Europe and the United States in 1970.  His work is characterized by a black tone used to emphasize an atmosphere of harmony in his classical compositions. The artist’s artworks are collected by numerous art museums, such as the Musée d'Art moderne in Paris and Les Musées d'art et d’histoire in Geneva.
