Hunt Slonem (b. 1951) born in Kittery, Maine, is an American painter whose work combines representational imagery with Abstract Expressionism. He is a key member of the Neo-Expressionist movement and is known for his colorful paintings of tropical birds, butterflies, and rabbits. His paintings often depict multiples of a subject rendered with gestural brushstrokes. He attended Tulane University and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine.His work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, among others. The artist lives and works in New York, New York.
