Glenna Goodacre (b. 1939) born in Lubbock, Texas, is an American sculptor best known for creating the Vietnam Women’s Memorial on the mall in Washington D.C.She received honorary doctorates from Colorado College and Texas Tech University. She has sculpted over 40 bronze portraits and recently created 40 new bronzes for the Irish Memorial for Philadelphia.
These works have unusual finishes and patinas and are presented on specially designed pedestals that give the 19th-century figures a contemporary feel. The artist is a fellow of the National Sculpture Society since 1981, a member of the Allied Artists and National Academy of Design, among other distinctions.
