George Rodrigue (1944-2013) was an American painter born in New Iberia, Louisiana. His work focused on Cajun culture, and he is best known for his Blue Dog series. He studied art at the University of Southwest Louisiana and the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. The artist’s own galleries in Carmel, California; Lafayette, Louisiana; and New Orleans, Louisiana exhibit his original paintings and silkscreens. He has also exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes in Paris, 226 Decatur Gallery in New Orleans, and Galerie Antenia in Paris.
