George R. James

George R. James (b. 1932) is an American artist known for his experimental watercolor technique.  He is Professor “Emirtus” of Art at California State University Fullerton, where he has taught since 1968. His work explores using synthetic paper and traditional watercolor media.  His recent experimentation with a synthetic paper called Yupo allows him to achieve richer color.  His work is characterized by an abstract style where his forms interact with geometric shapes. The artist’s work has been included in numerous one-man shows, group exhibitions, and regional and international exhibitions. In 2007, he participated in the Jiangsu Watercolor Society International Watercolor Exhibition in Nanjing, China.  He is also a member of American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.
