Frank N. Ashley (1920-2007) was an American painter known for his equestrian and jazz subjects. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and studied at the University of Minnesota.He later continued his studies Art Students League of New York, among other schools. Beginning in 1960, he portrayed equine subjects. From the middle 1970s to the early 1980s, he lived in Middleburg, Virginia, where he painted local fox hunting, racing, and steeple chasing events.He later focused on subjects of jazz musicians and popular culture. His work has been exhibited at numerous institutions, including the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and the National Academy of Design in New York City.
