Eric Fischl (b. 1948) is an American Neo-Expressionist painter, printmaker, and sculptor known for his figurative paintings and sexually charged imagery. Born in New York, he attended California Institute of the Arts and later began teaching painting at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. In 1978, he returned to New York City, where he began painting scenes of private and suburban life.His work is characterized by intimate subject matter and a distinctive treatment light and color. The artist lives and works in Long Island, New York.
