Item Description:

Turkish Hereke rug, type known as an "Isfahan" which is both a province (a region within Iran) and a type of design, typically with a central medallion and wavy edged spandrels and flowers known as Shah Abbasi flowers that are stylized lotus blossoms.

HEREKE LABEL woven into the guard border dates the carpet to post 1960.The tag woven into the fringe with the pattern number is reserved for their finest range. Hereke is a small coastal town near Istanbul where the Imperial looms have been making carpets for the palaces of the sultans of Turkey since Sultan Abdulmecid established the Hereke Imperial Factory in 1843. Some slight wear but in overall good condition (please refer to images).
