Cullen Yates

Cullen Yates (1866-1945 ) was an American Impressionist artist of the 20th century and one of the founding members of the Old Lyme Colony painters. He is known for his landscape, coastal view, and still life paintings. Born in Bryan, Ohio, he studied at National Academy of Design in New York with Impressionist painter William Merritt Chase and later studied simultaneously at the  Académie Julian, the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, and the Academie Colorossi. Upon returning to the United Sates, he became a teacher in Ohio and later returned to New York.
