Colin Campbell Cooper (1856-1937) was an American Impressionist painter known for his East Coast cityscapes and his depictions of his travels to India and Europe.  He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art followed by further study at Paris at Academies Julian, Vitti, and Delecluse. He later moved to New York City.  He was an avid traveler and made trips to Europe, India, and throughout the U.S. in search of subject matter. By the late 1890s, he had a national reputation as a painter of medieval architectural subjects.  At the beginning of the 20th century, he began to investigate the modern American city, mainly New York and Philadelphia.
