Chris Burkholder (b. 1952), born in Painesville, Ohio, is a contemporary American artist known for his landscapes of the flat lands of East Texas and the marshes and fields of West Louisiana. He grew up in Houston, Texas and attended Angelina College. He is a self-taught artist and opened his own studio in Pennington, Texas in 1972.His painting style reflects American Luminism, with its gradual change in color, achieved by glazing numerous layers of acrylic that create a hazy effect. The artist has been honored with over twenty-five museum and gallery exhibitions, and his work can be found in numerous private and public collections.
