Carl G. Jung

Carl G. Jung (1875-1961) was a Swiss psychologist and psychiatrist who founded analytic psychology.  He proposed and developed the concepts of the extraverted and the introverted personality, archetypes, and the collective unconscious. Born in Kesswil, Switzerland, he  joined the staff of the Burghölzli Asylum of the University of Zürich in 1900. He later became professor of psychology at the Federal Polytechnical University in Zürich from 1933 to 1934 and professor of medical psychology at the University of Basel in 1943.  Throughout his life, he focused on further developing his ideas and exploring the relationship between psychology and religion.
