Bulgari (estb. 1884) is a jewelry house founded in 1884 in Rome by Greek silversmith Sotirio Bulgari. Color is one of the most iconic features of a Bulgari piece. The house is an established expert in diamond design and have featured the finest diamonds since the 1920s. Gradually Bulgari began to include precious, rare colored gems to complement the diamond pieces. In the 1950s, the house departed from the traditional diamond-based Parisian school of jewelry and developed a pioneering style that explored atypical color combinations such as rubies and emeralds, and sapphires of the entire palette. The house also reintroduced the use of the cabochon cut that has become its trademark.
