Ben Stahl

Ben Stahl (1910-1987), born in Chicago, was an American painter, art teacher, and illustrator who helped found the Famous Artists Schools of Westport, Connecticut. By the age of 20, he had exhibited his work at the Chicago's International Water Color Show and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. Since 1933, more than 750 of his illustrations appeared in The Saturday Evening Post, and he also illustrated several limited editions of classic novels. He won the National Academy of Design's Saltus Gold Medal in 1952 and was later elected to the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1979.
