Beltran Bofill (1934-2009), born in Barcelona, Spain, was a figurative painter whose work focused on the exploration of light in Mediterranean culture. He studied at the Escuela Superior de Artes de San Jordi and then the Escuela de Artes y Oficio Casa Lonja . He was based in Mallorca during his military service, and the Mallorcan landscape had a significant influence on his work. Since 1972, he devoted himself entirely to painting, and he explored space and use of filtered light as well as his interest in classical figure painting. He has had solo exhibitions in Palma, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Monaco, Paris, New York, Chicago, Palm Beach, and Tokyo.
