Realistically modelled as a large, multi-hinged foldable fan, with openwork motifs imaginatively depicting the creation and formation of a diamond from within the depths of the Earth, the circuitous eruptions en route to the surface and beyond to surreal sky scenery, elaborately decorated with round, princess-cut and a diamond-profile brown diamond, the diamonds altogether weighing approximately 60.75 carats, mounted in 18k white, pink and yellow gold, with a wirework display stand on a lucite plinth and a travel case
Designed, and handmade by Master goldsmith Derek Olson. Created for the 2004 DeBeers "Diamonds, Nature's Miracle" exhibition in Venice.
