Anthony Lister (b.1979), born in Brisbane, Australia, is a contemporary painter and installation artist who helped pioneer the stencil and street art movement in Brisbane. He graduated from the College of Art in 2001 and shortly after moved to New York, where he completed a mentorship with Max Gimblett in 2002. His works explore figuration and incorporate comic book imagery. His mixed media technique combines layers of ink, charcoal, oils, and acrylic with spray paint and brushwork. He has presented solo exhibitions in London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Milan, New York, San Francisco, and Sydney and is represented at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. The artist currently lives and works in both New York and Australia.
